Move it on over, Hank!  If you like Western Swing or traditional country music with a Texas flavor (or if you are among those who think you don't LIKE country music!), then you need to check out Stuart Adamson's new release, “I've Got Lonesome”.  Adamson takes a back seat to no one among the large and ever-growing number of extremely talented, but, unfortunately, relatively unknown, Austin singer-songwriters.

Featuring nine original tunes and three covers, this CD effectively showcases Stuart's expressive baritone/bass vocals, agile but understated guitar work, and alternately heartbreaking, ironic, and even humorous lyrics.  Great harmony vocals by Hilary Tompkins, wonderful touches by some of Austin's finest session musicians (Chris Gage, Lloyd Manes, Paul Pearcy, Marvin Dykhuis, and Glen Fukunaga to name a few), and the trademark production excellence of East Side Flash round out this fine release.

Among the highlights for me include the title track, “I've Got Lonesome,” a well-crafted original tune that deserves to be a radio hit, and a superb cover of the previously unreleased Jon Ims tune, “Move On,” terrific advice for anyone whose heart has been recently broken.

Stuart sings, “I don't need your sympathy, I've got lonesome,” but after listening to this fine CD, I'm more inclined to think: “I don't need Bob Wills or Willie, I've got Stuart!”
